Ercilia Estrella was born in the Dominican Republic. She migrated to the United States when she was sixteen years old and attended Eastern District High School for a year. She graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in Liberal Arts and Science. She received Masters in Special Education and General Education from Touro College.
She developed her love for teaching at an early age. She grew up in a family of educators and she grew fascinated with the idea of contributing to the development of young minds. Her teaching practices integrate small groups where students talk and collaborate with each other.

“Speak up! When I look back at middle school, that is the one thing I wish I did more. Even though you are entirely confident with what you are saying, it is always better to say it. Your ideas grow a lot more if you just say what’s in your mind.”
