7th grade Math

agurbillon@ms915brooklyn.org

What is your background and education?
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY attending public school in Sunset Park and Bay Ridge. I also attended a progressive private school out of state where I engaged in Project Based Learning and a Work Study program. This experience not only taught me the importance of sustainability, but taught me ways to make learning more engaging and relatable to students.

My first years in education were in the South Bronx where I taught 6th grade and 7th grade math. Afterwards, I taught K-5 STEM in Sunset Park and I am happy to return to math within the Bridges community.

What is your favorite part of teaching?
My favorite part about teaching is helping students understand that math is an everyday experience, whether it involves determining the route of your commute, shopping for discounts or calculating how much time is left within one’s day to enjoy a good book.

What do you like to do outside of school?
Outside of school I enjoy reading, exercising, walking through the park, crossword puzzles or dining at a new restaurant.
