6th grade science teacher Leigh Stumme took her students outside as part of their weather studies to observe clouds and use three different types of thermometers. Even using homemade tools, their relative humidity calculations were spot on!
8th graders Claudia and Nadra describe all the excitement of Celebr8 Science. Lower and middle school student projects, community supporters, visiting scientists (including MS 8 alumni!) — who could ask for more?
6th grader Jillian writes about how engaging City Tech Professor Kezerashvili was when he visited the 6th grade late last month, and also how it “was a good feeling knowing we knew what he was talking about and some of the science behind his tricks.”
Round 1 results of the NYC Public High School admissions process were announced. Some of the high schools into which our students were accepted are:
6th grader Talia reports on the 6th grade’s trip to see a private performance by the Brooklyn Ballet. Thanks to a grant from City Council Member Steve Levin, students can see performances, and take after school classes with amazing teaching artists and professional dancers for FREE!
The 7th Grade reenacted the Constitutional Convention, with a few critical changes from 1787. Read 7th grader Aedan’s post about what the 7th grade did, and what he learned from it.
On Friday, January 26th, PS8/MS8 hosted our third annual Dunk for 8, featuring basketball skills contests and 3 on 3 games for students of all ages. These were followed by the main attraction, a full-court game between the teachers and students.
Ms. Barth-Werb’s 7th grade Integrated Co-teaching class wrapped up their unit on scale with a week-long design project that culminated in a visit by two MS 8 parent-architects.
