MS 8 created a fun and interesting way to learn about community. I thought it would be boring, but we did entertaining projects (like marble olympics and scavenger hunts) that taught us different aspects of what it means to be a community while being super fun at the same time. –Georgia, Class 602
Our first exploration of the year was a study on community. We spent some time thinking about what kind of community we want to have at our middle school and what we need to each do to create it together. We spent five days at school and two days out — seventh and eighth graders had an overnight camping trip at Fairview Lakes YMCA camp in New Jersey and our sixth graders had their first field study in Prospect Park with the Urban Park Rangers, learning about ecology and wilderness survival.
