8th Grade ELA/Social Studies ICT
What is your background and education?
I began learning how to teach when I was 13 at Mystic Seaport in CT, where I spent time learning how to sail, maritime history and practical nautical skills. Since I moved to New York City, I pursued Film Production at Pace University and Brooklyn College. Therefore, I teach with dual perspectives that straddle a respect for tradition while scrutinizing and analyzing perceptions to make discoveries.
How long have you been teaching?
I have had nearly continuous experiences in Education or education-adjacent fields for over the years since; from museums to after schools to summer camps. Now, after three years of teaching as a Substitute in the DOE, I am beginning my full-time teaching career at MS915.
What is your favorite part of teaching/administrating/parent coordinating?
Seeing a child’s eureka moment is the best singular thing I long to experience every day I step into work. I love when a student connects an idea and forms a new neurological link, broadening their understanding and world view. Favoritest thing ever.
What do you like to do outside of school?
I love techy gadgets and my gaming laptop is one of my prized possessions. I do have two guitars that I really want to get back to practicing, though, and I have 13 full journals of story fragments and ravings I should finally make something of. And, of course, lesson planning!
