Born in the Dominican Republic, I attended Lehman College in NYC. I graduated with a Bachelors in Science of Social Work. After college I worked in the non-for-profit sector, advocating and providing access to housing and treatment for homeless individuals with a diagnosed mental illness and/or substances dependency. After working in this field for over 4 years, I shifted my efforts to concentrate on helping to prevent these issues by intercepting it at earlier stage working with younger populations. I obtained a degree master in Urban Education at Mercy College and began this work as a teacher. began I taught for 10 years, during this time, I realized there was a great need for providing socio-emotional services to these young people and went back to Lehman College for my Master in Social Work. I worked in the South Bronx as a social worker at the high school level where, once again, I felt the need to provide these services at an even younger stages of development which led me to moving to middle school setting. Other interest are traveling, athletics, the arts and nature.
